Film Industry Colorist Steve Scott Joins Technicolor

Steve Scott, one of the motion picture industry’s most-celebrated digital intermediate talents, is joining Technicolor’s industry-leading team of digital colorists.
Mr. Scott is widely considered to be the dean of motion picture digital colorists – based on his accomplishments in digital intermediates and visual effects digital compositing alike. He joins Technicolor from his long tenure at EFILM, and will be based from Technicolor’s digital-hub in Hollywood.
"We’re honored that Steve has chosen to accept our offer to join Technicolor," stated Claude Gagnon, president, Technicolor Creative Services. "He’s a consummate artist, and a wonderful addition to the most diverse team of colorists in the world. With his creative innovative approach to digital color grading, we plan to have Steve help define the future of our digital intermediate service offering, and also serve as a mentor for our emerging talent. We are thrilled to welcome him."
"The DI suite has evolved into the final aperture of feature finishing," stated Scott. "With my background in visual effects, I’m keenly aware of the many amazing tools that we can incorporate from the compositing and CGI worlds into the DI. I am very excited about the opportunity to do pioneering work with Technicolor to bring these worlds together, and to offer cinematographers more creative options and control than they’ve ever had before."
Among his many industry accolades, Scott was the inaugural recipient of the Hollywood Post Alliance 2006 HPA Award for Outstanding Color Correction in a Feature Film DI, for his contribution to The Illusionist. More recently, Scott was the recipient of multiple HPA Awards, having won the 2011 Judges Award for Creativity & Innovation in Post Production; and in 2011 Scott also received the HPA Award for Outstanding Color Grading Feature Film in a DI Process for his work on the Academy Award-winning The Help. Scott won the HPA digital intermediate award in 2009 for his work on the feature Julie & Julia. In 2007, Scott won the HPA DI award for the feature Iron Man.
Since 2002, Scott has handled digital intermediate color-grading chores on many of the industry’s most well regarded theatrical features. His recent credits include: Men in Black 3; The Avengers; Cowboys and Aliens; Thor, and Red.
Scott won the primetime Emmy Award in 2000 for Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Series, for The X Files, and served as governor of the TV Academy’s visual effects peer group for 2 years. He is also a member of the Visual Effects Society (VES), and an associate member of the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC).
Scott began his career as a classically trained painter and illustrator, and started in broadcast television as a digital compositor for such series as Star Trek’s The Next Generation, and That 70s Show. He made the jump to theatrical features at Digital Domain in 1993, as a digital compositor on director James Cameron’s Academy Award® nominated (for Achievement in Visual Effects) True Lies; Scott followed on that success as the lead digital compositor on director Ron Howards’ multiple Academy Award winner (for Achievement in Cinematography and Achievement in Editing) Apollo 13 – which also won that year’s coveted British Academy BAFTA Award for Best Special Visual Effects.
