Marquis Teams-Up With SGL

Marquis Broadcast, specialist in content workflows and media integration software, has been working alongside Software Generation Limited (SGL), technology-leading provider of content archive and storage management solutions to the broadcast industry, to create a solution to allow easy archiving and access to media assets.
Initial work has been completed to enable Project Parking, Marquis’ archive and restore solution, to interface with FlashNet, SGL’s popular content storage management product in order to make archiving and subsequent access to stored media a straight-forward task. The pilot will be on show at IBC for the first time on booth: 2.A58.
"Storage management and content retrieval is a key challenge for broadcast facilities," explains Bernie Walsh world wide sales director, SGL. "The combination of our content storage management solution and Marquis’ Project Parking aims to address the need for easier access to digital assets. Timing the first demonstration at IBC will provide the unique opportunity to gain further customer insight in order to develop the interface further, while closely matching customers’ needs."
Marquis’ Project Parking offers a fast and cost- effective archive and restore process by creating a complete copy of any Avid project and media onto any storage device. By providing a simple vehicle for archiving all media associated with a project, Project Parking enables Avid users to archive complete projects safely, quickly and easily between systems within the same facility or between sites.
FlashNet is a highly scalable content storage management system, providing resilience, flexibility and adaptability. Regardless of the installation size or environment, SGL FlashNet's clustered architecture and Open System approach provide secure, future-proof solutions that fit together seamlessly.
"The combination of Project Parking and FlashNet potentially offers an economical answer to archiving and storing file-based content as it can free-up expensive shared storage by creating portable projects which can be stored off-line," explains Chris Steele, product manager, Marquis Broadcast. "Parked projects also provide significant advantages for disaster recovery procedures, business continuity and inter-site workflows. We are excited to be working with SGL, one of the industry leaders content storage management solutions, to continue to provide practical solutions for the needs to modern day broadcast facilities across the globe."
