OCTOPUS Newsroom IBC Preview

OCTOPUS Newsroom, a leading developer and supplier of newsroom computer systems for the broadcast TV industry, is showing its latest developments at IBC2012. These include the both full set of the new OCTOPUS6.2 NRCS tools, as well as integration with strategic technical partners that enhances a wide range of newsroom activities.
“Our customers want instant access to media and tools to achieve a smooth fast workflow,” comments Petr Stokuc, CEO, Octopus Newsroom. “We have been very successful with OCTOPUS6 but are now going further by pursuing two directions; adding new tools into OCTOPUS6.2 and working with our technical partners in the industry to achieve more efficient workflows over the wider newsroom operations.”
IBC2012 is the first public showing of the complete OCTOPUS6.2 that adds four major new features to the established OCTOPUS NCRS. Alternative Scripts allows journalists to prepare many scripts for one story, useful when broadcasting to several countries. Web Publishing provides a direct way to deliver stories from Octopus, in pictures, text and video/audio, to the TV channels' website as a live update. The Reports management information system enables the set-up, gathering and delivery of details about OCTOPUS6.2 operation, providing data about NRCS use and so helping to tune workflows for greater efficiency. Event Calendar delivers reminders and details of upcoming events by accessing selected internet sources to provide a new customised information flow into the newsroom that complements the traditional wire services.
Running natively on Mac OS X, Linux and Windows, the platform independence of OCTOPUS Newsroom has proved the key for the integration with a wide range industry partners. Recently these have included EditShare whose founder and President Andy Liebman, said, “Incorporating the OCTOPUS6 NRCS as part of the EditShare tapeless workflow provides broadcasters with a complete turnkey, tapeless production solution for managing news content and media.” Also integration with Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 has created a fast, efficient workflow all the way from story creation to on-air play-out via the OCTOPUS NLE plug-in, running on MacOS X or Windows platforms. Collaboration with ToolsOnAir has also produced an extended integrated workflow.
