Fusion Post builds with Edifis Bricks

Two Edifis Brick digital disk recorders have been purchased by Fusion Post Productions.
One will be deployed as a VTR replacement in a linear online edit suite, reducing the need to wait for videotape shuttling and the inherent wear and tear on the tape mechanism and source material.
The second Brick will be incorporated in a tape-to-tape grading suite and controlled from a Pandora Pixi colour corrector, again increasing speed and efficiency.
Each Brick can accommodate up to 20 hours of uncompressed moving video storage. For colour grading applications, the storage timeline can be divided into separate segments for colour-reference stills and the full-motion content.
The two Edifis units will be installed at the facility's new premises in D'Arblay Street, Soho.
Fusion Post Productions director of editing, Richard Wilding, said: "Tape is still the main medium for content distribution and archiving but, once within the facility, can be processed much more efficiently on disk.
"The two systems we are installing incorporate the temporal space interpolation feature of Sting, allowing precise variable speed playback, and can easily be expanded to full dual-channel Stings as our requirements grow.
