Phabrix Get Set For NAB 2012

With NAB 2012 just weeks away, PHABRIX is planning to have its biggest show yet. PHABRIX’s 20x20 stand in North Hall 3 N5105 will spotlight developments in hand held test and measurement instruments and its new rack mount PHABRIX Rx range for 24/7 monitoring and analysis.
PHABRIX is particularly looking forward to 'showing off' its new rack mount rasterizer range, the first of which was released at NAB 2011.
The PHABRIX Rx2000 has a unique dual screen display combined with the ability to monitor 8 SDI channels simultaneously and is already installed in many installations. A modular feature set provides support for a host of broadcast environments be it MCR, OB trucks, engineering bays and satellite farms.
Users can choose from a range of modules which support video and audio analysis and generation. PHABRIX have indicated there will be some new modules for the range announced at NAB which will surprise many in the industry.
With the launch of the new rasterizers, the 1U 19” PHABRIX Rx 1000 and the half rack Rx 500 at NAB 2012, engineers can choose the form factor which best suits their requirement. The PHABRIX Rx 1000 can accept up to 4 modules installed offering 8 simultaneous channels with the tiny PHABRIX Rx 500 ‘demi’ offering 4 simultaneous channels. Each of these rasterizers has a rack depth of only 13cm.
Key to the whole range is the ability to output instruments via HDMI or SDI output to a 1920 x 1080 monitor which providing a multi viewer of instruments across a broad spectrum of broadcast testing environments.
Power requirements for the range start at an amazingly low 16W. With their low weight and compact features, many SI’s are going to be interested for OB, studios and engineering support installations.
Technologically PHABRIX will also be showing its new combined Dolby generator and analyser suite. The Dolby generator and analyser function is available across its platforms and is the first time engineers have the ability to change the metadata within the Dolby stream being generated for analysis in a closed loop operation.
With a full range of program configurations offering 16 bit and 20 bit support, the generator provides an intelligent editor with colour coding for edited fields. The frame rate is adjustable for start timing which is invaluable for testing. The analyser can interpret the metadata tagging legal, illegal and irrelevant values enabling ‘closed loop’ testing when linked to the generator. It also provides 8 channel metering and guard band analysis. Logging supports CRC error, guard band timing, common and program metadata.
Paul Nicholls, PHABRIX head of sales and marketing commented; ‘Adding Dolby support to our instruments will create
significant interest on our stand at NAB. This show has traditionally been a ‘release’ forum for PHABRIX innovation and this year is going to be our most impressive to date with new technology, new rasterizer products, new PHABRIX Sx hand held features on a much larger stand.
