FOR-A Reveal BVE Focus

A leading manufacturer of video and audio equipment for the broadcast and professional video industries, FOR-A, is presenting its latest products at BVE 2012.
These add to a product range that provides high quality performance with the practical features that fit into both baseband video and file-based operations.
VISION MIXERS
New HVS-4000 3 M/E vision mixer
The new HVS-4000 HANABI multi-format vision mixer is available as 2 M/E, 2.5 M/E, or 3 M/E. It offers a wide range of practical features that take advantage of FOR-A’s excellence in video processing, making this mixer quick to install and easy to use.
Features include support for mixed SD, HD and 3 Gb/s inputs, video files and stereoscopic 3D. It also offers 2.5D and 3D DVE, a built-in 4/10/16-split multiviewer and external device control – making it a useful core device in a video production system. Across the range there is a choice of four control panels, a maximum of 48 inputs and 24 outputs and an up/down/cross converter allowing cutting between most asynchronous SD and HD input formats.
HVS-350HS 1.5 M/E vision mixer
BVE 2012 provides another opportunity to see the HVS-350HS 1.5M/E vision mixer. This has become a popular choice for a wide range of applications including broadcast OB vans, at events and in studios. It can operate in SD, HD and 3D and can input directly from a PC.
The standard package provides eight inputs and outputs that are expandable to 24 and 12 respectively. Other standard features include two keyer and four DSK channels, four stills stores, dual-channel 16-split multiviewer, two channels of dedicated picture-in-picture, and more than 100 2D and 3D transitions and effects. The latest version includes a clip store, animation playback, CG wipe and enhanced control of external devices. It is compact with a choice of control panels, the 12-button version fitting a 19-inch rack, and all electronics fitting inside a 3U box.
MODULAR PRODUCTS
New UFM-30FRC Frame-rate Converter
Building on FOR-A’s established frame-rate conversion technology the new UFM-30FRC is a high quality SD / HD frame-rate converter delivered on a modular UFM card. This offers low price, broadcast quality conversion that can be added into a UFM modular system. Despite the compact size and keen price this converter uses vector-based motion compensation developed by FOR-A’s established frame-rate conversion experts to deliver excellent results.
For standards conversion the signal can be routed via a UFM-30UDC 3G/HD/SD Up/Down/Cross Converter card in the same box. Both cards include on-board audio delay to ensure lip-sync continuity of HDSDI embedded audio. Analogue I/O is also provided.
FA-9500 signal processor
The FA-9500 is a popular multi-purpose signal processor with an extensive range of functions. Supporting 3G/HD/SD and analogue composite inputs and outputs, it includes frame synchronisation, up/down/cross/aspect converters, a second converter (down/cross/aspect conversion), colour corrector and automatic video optimiser (AVO) as standard features, providing conversion for many types of video and audio signals.
Options include analogue component I/O, frame-rate conversion, logo generation and Dolby E encoding and decoding. Housed in 1RU, it can probably provide for all signal-processing requirements.
FILE-BASED PRODUCTS
LTR-120HS LTO-5 Video Archiving Recorder
LTR-120HS video archiving recorder uses a high-quality AVC-Intra/DVCPRO codec and MXF wrapper/un-wrapper to record MXF files that can be used by a variety of NLE systems, to LTO-5 data cassettes. This is a versatile product that bridges the video and file-base environments without the need of IT infrastructure. It enables “archive at ingest” solutions, inputting video footage that is recorded as an MXF file in real time by simply pressing “record” and “play” on the VTR-like front panel controls. It can also act as a file server, allowing access via the internet as a means of delivering or loading material.
FOR-A’s LTR-100HS, introduced last year, which supports various MPEG-2 video formats, will also be on display.
