Bedlam Productions Bags International Commission

Bedlam Productions, creators of the Academy-award winning film The King’s Speech are to produce a new feature length drama documentary about the Titanic.
Titanic: Case Closed has been commissioned by Nat Geo International Channels and the Smithsonian Channel.
The film (1x90’) is due for broadcast around April 12 2012 to mark the centenary of the ship’s sinking. It will explore the real reasons behind the sinking and lack of rescue of the RMS Titanic by closing the case on the events of that infamous night which saw over 1,500 lives lost in the North Atlantic Ocean.
The documentary is written and directed by Nigel Levy who has worked on multi-award winning drama documentary series such as Horizon for the BBC and Fatal Attraction for Animal Planet.
It is Executive Produced by Simon Breen for Bedlam Productions and Stuart Burrage of Airborne TV & Film. Tim Maltin, one of the world’s most foremost authorities on RMS Titanic and author of several books on the subject, including 101 Things You Thought You Knew About the Titanic…But Didn’t, will travel to locations across Europe, North America and the Atlantic Ocean to meet experts and perform a series of eye-opening experiments.
Titanic: Case Closed will bring to life the unique meteorological conditions of the night and resurrect the ship with a combination of vivid CGI effects and dramatic reconstruction.
Simon Breen, Creative Director at Bedlam Productions said: "I am extremely proud of this documentary which sheds new light on such a tragic event and combines Tim Maltin’s extraordinary knowledge with Nigel Levy’s distinctive vision. The testimonials and evidence gathered truly brings to life an astonishing story and genuinely changes our understanding of a story we thought we knew."
David Royle, Executive Vice President of Programming and Production, at Smithsonian Channel said:"Bedlam turned the story of a stuttering king into a global box-office hit. Now they are tackling a story where the drama is massive and tragically unavoidable. Who better to bring to life the truth behind one of the world’s great maritime disasters?"
Stephen Hunter, Vice President of Development and Production for National Geographic Channels International said: "While many have speculated what ultimately sealed Titanic’s fate, Titanic: Case Closed reveals crucial missing piece that fill the gap of our knowledge about the ship’s doomed journey. NGCI is excited to partner with Bedlam Productions and Airborne TV and Film on this special and offer key insight into what took down the 'unsinkable'".
