Alexa Shot Short Film Awarded

A short film, which won the European Film Academy Short Film award, has not just increased recognition for the director but also for camera specialists Arri.
The Wholly Family,is an Italian-language short film directed by Terry Gilliam, shot with Arri Alexa cameras by cinematographer Nicola Pecorini. On December 3 it won the 2011 European Film Academy Short Film Award, which Gilliam collected himself at the 24th European Film Awards in Berlin.
Every year, the various activities of the European Film Academy culminate in the prestigious European Film Awards, which are presented jointly with EFA Productions. In a total of 17 categories the awards honor the greatest achievements in European cinema.
Another winner at this year's ceremony was Lars von Trier's Melancholia, which was also shot with Alexa and received three awards, including the European Film Award and the the Carlo Di Palma European Cinematography Award for DP Manuel Alberto Claro, DFF.
Gilliam's film, which was financed by the pasta makers Pasta Garofalo, follows a family as they explore the streets of Naples. While the husband and wife bicker with each other, their young son steals a Pulcinella doll from a street vendor. When they arrive home, the doll's magic powers take the boy on a strange journey that gives full range to Gilliam's legendary imagination and uniquely memorable visual imagery.
