Govt. Extends Film Industry Tax Break

Prime Minister David Cameron has announced that the British film industry will continue to benefit from a tax break until December 2015.
Indeed the film tax relief scheme will continue to the delight of industry specialists. The tax scheme was responsible for savings of £95m for the industry in 2009/2010 and is regarded as a crucial form of support to the industry by film-makers.
It is understood that the scheme helped encourage £1bn worth of investment in 208 films.
Cameron said in a statement: "I am delighted to announce the extension of film tax relief to the end of 2015, guaranteeing millions of pounds of support for the British film industry. The last year has seen massive success, both at home and abroad, for a whole host of UK films. I look forward to seeing the UK film industry continue to thrive over the coming years, supported by the Government's film tax relief."
Recent British productions that benefited from the tax break include Brighton Rock, Attack the Bloc, StreetDance3D, Gnomeo & Juliet, Clash of the Titans, Horrid Henry 3D, Coriolanus and Harry Potter Deathly Hallows (Parts 1 and 2).
