Additional Funding Announced For Transform@Lab

The Media Academy Wales have announced that they will be running the successful TransformatLab in 2012, following confirmation of funding from the European Media programme.
The Lab, which has taken place in Newport, Budapest and Paris this summer, and has offered nine emerging professionals the chance to hear from industry experts and develop their cross platform projects, will build on this pilot year to offer further networking, internship and development labs.
The 2011 participants, who are currently preparing to return to Wales for their final session with tutors, have found the intensive lab environment has fostered new relationships and encouraged them to look at the cross-platform world in new ways.
The final week of the lab will involve masterclasses from Frank Boyd of Unexpected Media and Jo Roach of Jo Roach Media, as well as pitching panels with the chance for feedback from leading producers and commissioners including Sequence, Playthisnext, The Carbon Studio, Vodo, Channel 4, BBC Wales and the Film Agency for Wales.
“We are really excited about the six projects in development and the way the participants have progressed through the lab, under the excellent mentorship of our tutors from University of Wales, Newport; MOME, Budapest and Les Gobelins, Paris,” said Hannah Raybould, Project Manager of the training programme.
“The pilot year for the scheme has gone very well and we are now set to build on the new relationships we have forged with key industry players in the field and look forward to recruiting the 2012 participants.”
