Vinten Radamec To Launch Next Generation Robotic Heads And Control At IBC 2011

Vinten Radamec, a Vitec Group brand and leading provider of robotic camera support systems, will reveal a major step forward in camera robotics at this year's IBC.
The Fusion FHR-35 pan and tilt head is the first to incorporate Intelligent Control Engineering (ICE), a new platform which delivers unprecedented control and accuracy in an innovative and highly compact form factor.
The head is suitable for a broad range of applications from legislatures to studios, and allows broadcast engineers to plan ahead through its upgradable option for augmented/virtual reality production environments.
Designed for payloads up to 16kg, the Fusion FHR-35 is versatile and uses Ethernet to connect to the HDVRC studio robotics controller or legislative system controller. Furthermore, the ICE internal motors and processing allow it to give both the fastest and the slowest movement, as well as pan and tilt accuracy better than 0.01.
Every aspect of the Fusion FHR-35 head has been designed around Vinten Radamec's unique ICE technology. In addition to moving under robotic control, the FHR-35 also provides precise position reporting back to the controller, together with zoom and focus data from a digital lens. This unrivalled capability is provided by ICE inside the head: there are no external interface boxes or power supplies, making it the most compact head in its range.
Karen Walker, Robotics Commercial Manager for Vinten Radamec, said: "The intelligence in ICE is a really important advance. The new Fusion FHR-35 can be remote configured for very fast set-up and because it has its own control intelligence built in, it responds incredibly quickly. This is a completely new concept in camera robotics and it has been incorporated into a surprisingly compact head. Both the design and the technology is different to anything else on the market and a remarkable leap forward."
Alongside the demonstration of the Fusion FHR-35, Vinten Radamec will showcase the integration of its heads and pedestals into virtual reality environments. A full 3D virtual reality environment will be created, using a camera on a Vinten Quattro SE pedestal and Vector 430i encoded pan and tilt head, connected to Orad's rendering system and combining live and virtual reality worlds in real time. Other demonstrations will feature a complete robotic pedestal, the FP-188 from Vinten Radamec's robotics solution under the control of the studio HDVRC control system.
Vinten Radamec will be at Stand 11.D61 at IBC 2011, between September 9 - 13 at the RAI in Amsterdam.
