First Saudi Arabian HD OB Has Hamlet Installed

In its new outside broadcast truck, the first high-definition unit in Saudi Arabia, Al Nijoom Media Production is relying on the Hamlet MonitorScope MS9000 for critical quality measurements.
The MonitorScope was installed by Indian system integrator Deuro Broadcast India which built the vehicle for Al Nijoom.
The MonitorScope MS9000 is a compact waveform monitor and vectorscope, in the traditional half width 3U form factor, but with a very shallow profile thanks to its use of a high resolution TFT display. With space always at a premium in outside broadcast units this is an important advantage. It is capable of making a very broad range of measurements in standard and high definition, an important consideration for Al Nijoom as the whole unit is designed to be dual standard, allowing them to migrate their production capabilities to HD or 3G as clients require it.
Another critical consideration was that the power consumption of the device is very low. As well as minimising the impact on location power supplies this means it generates very little heat. As temperatures in Saudi Arabia are frequently well in excess of 45 degrees, savings in heat emission and the consequent reduction in loads on the vehicle's air conditioning are vitally important.
Joseph Kurian of Al Nijoom said: "We looked at the equipment available on the marker and the Hamlet MonitorScope was the most suitable for our needs. It has a small form factor and low power consumption, but it also gives us access to all the right parameters and the ability to switch between standards. It is performing as we wished and we are now looking to invest in other Hamlet equipment."
Steve Nunney, Managing Director of Hamlet, said: "Our products are designed based on 25 years' experience of broadcast operation needs. Of course, these needs are constantly changing and the MonitorScope has proven yet again its functionality and capacity to satisfy users with its modular composite through to HD and 3G capabilities making it the ideal solution. With EYE and TSG modules also available it is easily upgraded to 3Gb/s. We are very pleased to hear from Joseph Kurian that the MonitorScope's functionality, compact design and low power consumption tick all the right boxes for Al Nijoom."
