Arqiva Appoints Wendy McMillan To Lead Group Strategy And Business Development

Arqiva, the communications infrastructure and media services company, has appointed Wendy McMillan as Group Strategy & Business Development Director, in a management board appointment under CEO John Cresswell.
Ms McMillan brings a wealth of expertise to Arqiva including strategy, finance, marketing, product development and operational management.
Until 2010, she was Director of Strategy & Business Development in BT's retail division where she had spent five years in a range of senior roles including general manager of the residential telephony business and director of customer service operations. Her earlier career was spent in business development and consultancy roles at Sappi Ltd, Bain & Company and Smedvig Capital.
Ms McMillan graduated from Oxford University where she received a Master of Engineering degree in Engineering, Economics & Management. Most recently, as an entrepreneur, she was the founder of the professional services website Who to ask? (whotoask.com), for which she received the Cartier Women's Intiative Award for Europe 2010.
John Cresswell, CEO of Arqiva, said: "I am delighted to welcome Wendy to the Arqiva management board. Her in-depth corporate experience combined with an entrepreneurial spirit is just what we need in this new post to take forward our group strategy and business development."
Wendy McMillan said: "I'm thrilled to be joining Arqiva at this stage in its evolution. To be driving the overall strategic direction of the organisation at a time of such change in Arqiva's markets is very exciting and I'm really enthusiastic about the many opportunities open to the company."
Arqiva owns much of the infrastructure behind broadcast services and wireless communications in the UK and operates an international satellite broadcast and communications business. The company is more than halfway through the successful delivery of the £700 million investment, five-year TV Digital Switch Over project and is bidding, in the SmartReach partnership with BT and Detica, to provide communications support for the UK Government's national Smart Metering initiative.
