New Playout Efficiency For Norway's TV 2 With Pixel Power's BrandMaster

Pixel Power, the leading supplier of broadcast graphics systems, has continued the success of BrandMaster with TV 2 purchasing five units, alongside the associated Control System, to enhance the efficiency and flexibility of its playout capabilities.
The broadcaster also purchased a motorised audio fader panel as well as bespoke GPI-based solution for automatic channel switching on multi-viewers.
TV 2 has been expanding its range of channels - now up to 13 - and is operating a mixed HD and SD environment. While the channels are all automated via a Snell Morpheus system, there's a high level of manually handled live events. Ole Johan Skogheim, Head of Systems with TV 2, explained: "Due to an increasing number of situations involving simultaneous live events and growth in the number of channels, we needed to find a more flexible architecture where we could move to an any-channel-controlled-from-any-seat environment. This allows us to maximise both playout flexibility and the use of staff."
TV 2 selected BrandMaster - unique combined master control/branding technology - for a wide range of reasons, not least the flexibility provided by the IP-based BrandMaster Control System. Skogheim highlights the user-configurability of the infrastructure, including the customisable soft and hard panels, and the fact that this means that TV 2 can now switch the entire control and monitoring environment between a high number of channels.
Skogheim added: "We are also finding the built-in graphics and audio mixing capabilities attractive, with a lot of good features in one unit. This reduces complexity and cost compared to our previous architecture."
The BrandMaster Control System is a user-configurable, any-screen-to-any-device channel branding/master control set-up, combining touchscreen and hard panel technology. Using TCP/IP protocols, the system provides previously unseen levels of configurability and control over the BrandMaster master control and branding environment and beyond.
Skogheim concluded: "We selected Pixel Power because of the exciting technology that is BrandMaster. TV 2 is a very ambitious company and we often challenge suppliers. Pixel Power has proved to be a good partner making further developments possible. We are very happy working with them and like the way they think!"
James Gilbert, PixelPower Joint MD, said: "BrandMaster is proving to be a tremendous success. We are pleased that TV 2 has both recognised and been able to take advantage of the technology's capabilities. Working with customers that are continually pushing the boundaries in their own areas encourages us to really drive development and we look forward to further work with TV 2."
