White Van Man Drives Back To BBC Three

Following the successful first series of ITV Studios' sitcom White Man Van, BBC Three has commissioned a second run.
The 6 x 30 comedy starring Will Mellor will begin filming in Manchester later this year.
White Van Man is the channel's most successful first run comedy series and was the most watched programme in its 10.30pm slot for two years. The first series averaged 884,000 viewers per episode with a 5.6% share, up +3 share points on the slot.
Saurabh Kakkar, Creative Director, Comedy at ITV Studios said: "We are thrilled that the first series of White Van Man has been received so positively, and it’s fantastic that the BBC have committed to a second series. We're hugely excited about spending more time with Ollie, Darren and the gang."
Cheryl Taylor, BBC Controller of Comedy Commissioning added: "Will Mellor and his fantastic supporting cast made a real splash on Three with the first series of White Van Man and we are delighted that they will be returning next year for another spin round the block."
White Van Man stars Will Mellor as the proverbial man with a van, written by stand-up comedian Adrian Poynton.
Mellor plays good guy Ollie, reluctantly putting his dreams of running a restaurant on the back burner when his ailing father, Tony, turns to him to take over the family handyman business.
The extremely successful launch episode aired on the 22nd March 2011 and showed Ollie getting to grips with his new job, pulling in 951,000 viewers, a 5.8% share.
Writer Adrian Poynton will continue to write the next episodes and all main cast members are set to return.
He said: "I'm thrilled to be writing another series of White Van Man. The show is based around a community, and we still have so many exciting, heartwarming and slightly bonkers members of it yet to meet."
White Van Man is the latest show commissioned from ITV Studios Comedy Department and follows Dirk Gently for BBC Four.
The series has been commissioned by Zai Bennett, Controller of BBC Three and the BBC Controller of Comedy Commissioning, Cheryl Taylor.
Executive Producers will be Kristian Smith for the BBC, Saurabh Kakkar for ITV Studios, and Producer Rohan Acharya for ITV Studios.
