Thomson Video Networks Enters Framework Agreement With Telenor Satellite Broadcasting

Thomson Video Networks has announced a multiyear framework agreement with Telenor Satellite Broadcasting (TSBc).
Under the partnership, Thomson will supply consultancy and commissioning services together with its complete range of headend products, including VIBE encoders, NetProcessor multiplexers, and XMS network management systems.
As the leading satellite operator in the Nordic region, TSBc is renowned for delivering quality television broadcasting services to its customers. The 1 degree west orbital location from which TSBc operates is one of the fastest growing platforms for video distribution, serving approximately 17 million television households and transmitting nearly 700 television and radio channels in the Nordic region and throughout Central and Eastern Europe. TSBc's headend development project is part of the company's push to future-proof its leading position in the Nordic countries, while establishing a strong presence in Central Europe and the Middle East.
Thomson Video Networks' digital headend solutions encompass award-winning technologies that deliver market-leading efficiency and quality. The Thomson VIBE range is the industry reference in video encoding, and combined with Thomson NetProcessor multiplexing systems, delivers outstanding picture quality combined with highly economical bandwidth management. With unrelenting commitment to innovation and an unequalled base of experience, Thomson can deliver comprehensive, tailor-made systems for any application, ranging from standalone headend solutions to large hybrid multi-network installations.
Christophe Delahousse, President of Thomson Video Networks, said: "We are proud to be selected as a trusted partner for Telenor Satellite Broadcasting. TSBc's deep technical knowledge of providing extensive television broadcasting services for distribution, contribution and occasional applications to all the Nordic broadcasters and many others throughout Europe makes this long term agreement a real acknowledgement of the quality of our products, systems and organisation."
