On Sight Takes SGO's New Stereoscopic 3D On-Set System Mistika Live To Start of Production Workflow

On Sight, a production services company specialising in stereo 3D equipment, rental and post production services, has invested in Mistika Live, SGO's latest innovative development.
Mistika Live enables SGO's powerful stereoscopic and colour correction tools to be taken on-set, to either provide pre-visualisation and preliminary post production settings, or to be used in a live setting.
It is the ultimate work station in a stereoscopic 3D shoot environment and an essential on-set tool that enables shooting adjustments in real-time, as well as the creation of dallies, media files and editorial.

SGO continues to support On Sight in meeting the growing and complex demands that stereo 3D productions involve."
Mistika Live will enable Mistika's stereoscopic geometry and colour correction tools to be used either on-set as a preview facility, while shooting, or in the demanding live environment where camera feeds are corrected "on the fly". Taking a stereo feed, from dual HD-SDI inputs, Mistika Live makes geometry adjustments to match the stereo camera line-up, as well as colour matching, to correct any colour differences that arise, between the cameras. The result can be viewed in real-time, live and in stereo 3D. Mistika Live also allows simple convergence shifts, which are normally corrected in the post production phase, to happen live on-set, thus making the shots easier to evaluate at the time.
Furthermore, Mistika Live allows for additional colour corrections, with or without the use of a Look Up Table (LUT) to correctly transform the camera's outputs. The feeds to Mistika Live and its corrections can be maintained as HD MPEG 4 Dallies. These can then either be used for reference, or edited together on the Mistika Live timeline, in order to convey the progress and status of the production, as well as highlight any other stereoscopic issues that might affect the edit. All corrections can then be exported to a Mistika post production system to ensure the finishing process is streamlined and seamless.

On Sight has recently worked on the mammoth stereo 3D landmark documentary Flying Monsters 3D with David Attenborough for Sky's 3D TV channel and 3D IMAX delivery, produced by Atlantic Productions and The Prince's Trust Rock Gala in 3D produced by Nineteen Fifteen/3DD Productions which were both post produced using Mistika in stereo 3D alongside other high profile projects.
