WAG adopt Griffiths animation

Griffilms recently made animation history by animating Jerry the Tyke for the first time since his last outing 75 years ago.
Jerry the Tyke was a character created by cinema projectionist Syd Griffiths in the 1920's, which has recently been adopted by WAG (the Welsh Animation Group).
It was the very first animation known to have been created in Wales and is said to have influenced the creators of Felix the Cat as there are numerous similarities in the two characters.
Jerry has now been adopted by WAG (the Welsh Animation Group) and as a nod of respect to Syd Griffiths, Griffilms were commissioned to animate a short excerpt for inclusion in a new documentary series covering the animation industry in Wales, and beyond.
Griffilms animator Eryl Jones said "It was a strange feeling to bring Jerry back to life after all this time. It was a privilege!" The sequence will be broadcast in October.
