Leitch launch dpsVelocityQ in Europe

IBC 2002 marked the European launch of dpsVelocityQTM, the latest in advanced multi-layer non-linear editing systems from Leitch Technology Corporation.
The dpsVelocityQ combines the dpsQuattrus multi-layer real-time non-linear editing hardware with an extended version of Leitch's dpsVelocity software, creating a fully-integrated advanced multi-layer NLE solution. Features include real-time simultaneous playback of four video streams (in any combination of uncompressed or compressed video), six graphics layers, and four channels of real-time 3D DVE, including perspectives and warps.
Building on the proven dpsVelocity architecture, dpsVelocityQ includes all of the features of the dpsVelocity 8.0 dual-stream non-linear editor, including real-time filters such as colour correction and speed changes, hundreds of customisable 2D and 3D transitions, rolling/crawling titles, 3 and 4-point editing, EDL import and export, real-time control of eight tracks of audio and direct timeline integration with eyeon's included Digital Fusion DFX+ compositing software.
To this foundation, dpsVelocityQ adds new features, including multi-camera editing of up to four cameras, four channels of simultaneous real-time 3D DVE, and enhanced support for network editing, with video media accessible from system or network storage as well as the included dedicated on-board Ultra160 storage controller.
The dpsVelocityQ expands the Leitch post production product line alongside the dual-stream dpsVelocity NLE, and Leitch have gone to great lengths to assure extensive compatibility and interoperability between the two products.
Rich Green, Leitch Post Production NLE product manager, said: "dpsVelocityQ adds another powerful level to our line of professional non-linear editing solutions. "dpsVelocityQ is designed for users who need maximum real-time power for the fastest possible editing experience. It is ideal for advanced users requiring extensive real-time video and graphic layers and multiple simultaneous real-time 3D effects for projects requiring lots of layers. Users who only do such multi-layer segments occasionally can use our dual-stream dpsVelocity system and render these more complex segments as necessary, but users who do such segments regularly will find tremendous productivity gains with dpsVelocityQ."
