Endemol Builds Creative Board

A world leader in entertainment programming, Endemol, has announced a series of changes within its senior creative team including the creation of a new Creative Board.
The board will include Marco Bassetti, President of Endemol Group, Tim Hincks, Chief Executive Officer of Endemol UK and David Goldberg, Chairman of Endemol North America, bringing their experience and talent to the centre of the Group's creative process.
The Creative Board's remit is to oversee and direct the development of global hits within Endemol. As part of this the Board will look to further synchronise and support Endemol's local creative teams around the world and will play a leading role in all major creative decisions.
The changes come as Endemol's Chief Creative Officer Paul Römer steps down to pursue other opportunities after fifteen years at the company.
aul's achievements during this time include developing the Big Brother format alongside John de Mol and, as Executive Producer, steering it through its launch in the Netherlands in 1999 and thereafter in the USA.
In 2002 he became Managing Director of Endemol Netherlands and a key member of the Group's Global Creative Team before stepping up to become Global Head of Programming in January 2009.
He was appointed Chief Creative Officer of Endemol Group later that year.
Iris Boelhouwer has been promoted to Managing Director of Creative Operations, responsible for coordinating Endemol's creative processes and teams around the world.
This will include overseeing the creative consultancy and format distribution teams as well as coordinating Global Creative Team meetings, comprising the Group's creative leaders in key markets.
Iris first joined Endemol in1994 and since then has held a number of key roles within the company.
This has included Executive Producer and Creative Director at Endemol Netherlands and most recently Executive Director, Creative Support at Endemol Group.
The third party format acquisitions team will continue to be managed by Director of Acquisitions, Grant Ross.
Last year Endemol created 200 new formats including international hits such as 101 Ways to Leave a Gameshow, which was co-developed by the UK and US teams and The Money Drop, which originated in the UK. These are now rolling out into the USA and major European markets following successful first runs in the UK.
Long running formats such as Big Brother continue to be top rating hits in major territories across Europe as well as the USA, Latin America and new markets such as Israel; whilst more recent shows such as Wipeout, which has sold to 23 countries, continue to roll out internationally. In addition Endemol has over the last 18 months successfully diversified into new genres such as drama and sport.
Ynon Kreiz, Chairman of Endemol Group commented: "Marco, Tim and David are among the most experienced and skilled creative leaders in the business. This new structure leverages our top creative talent in the Group and will add further focus and strength to the support we give our local creative teams around the world.
"David and Tim's teams in the US and the UK are behind some of our most recent global hits including 101 Ways To Leave a Gameshow, The Money Drop and Wipeout and are well positioned to take on a broader role.
"The promotion of Iris recognises the great contribution she has made to the company and the value she brings to our creative activities."
