Louth To Get Epic?

Ireland's greatest legend, Cuchulainn, could be coming to the big screen with the epic shot in Co Louth.
Hound, an international film based on Cuchulainn's life story, is set to go ahead in the next few years and may be filmed near Dundalk.
Although an American studio is likely to buy the rights to the film, producers plan to cast and make the movie in Ireland and sources admit that Louth - where Cuchulainn is historically from - has every possibility of being used in scenes for the film.
Hound will focus on Cuchulainn's gruesome persona of a brutal fighter destined to kill with producers hoping that it will resemble epic productions such as Lord of the Rings and 300. The movie currently carries the tagline 'Born to Kill, Dying to Defend' and focuses on the young man's internal struggle as he realises he is destined to become a murderer.
The film-makers plan to encompass his single-handed defence of Ulster against Queen Medb's army and his three-day battle with Ferdia, his foster brother and best friend.
Paul Bolger, who worked on The Land Before Time and Happily N'Ever After, will direct and Barry Devlin, the former front man of The Horslips, is writing the script.
The movie has been granted €29,000 by the Irish Film Board and €48,000 from Northern Ireland Screen. It is expected to be ready by 2013.
