Mekaniken Opens Up Shared Storage With Avid ISIS 5000

Mekaniken, one of the largest post-production houses in Sweden, has become the first Scandinavian facility to invest in the recently launched Avid ISIS 5000 shared storage system.
The new 64TB system will give Mekaniken the flexibility of up to 40 client connections and the benefit of a shared storage solution that's easy-to-use, lower cost and has an open architecture, allowing it to be fully integrated with Avid and third-party solutions.
Henrik Cednert, CTO & Compositor at Mekaniken, said: "Avid's beta testing programme really enabled us to gain an invaluable insight into the capabilities of the ISIS 5000 and how it would seamlessly fit into our production pipeline.

Built upon proven ISIS technology, ISIS 5000's support for Avid and third-party applications means that Mekaniken has been able to integrate it seamlessly with its 30 plus Avid Media Composer edit suites, Apple Final Cut Pro editing workstations and two Avid Symphony Nitris finishing systems. Cednert continued: "Openness was a deciding factor when we were making our investment choice. We evaluated EditShare's offering, but the ISIS 5000 exceeded our needs and was a cost-effective choice. The ability to effectively 'try before we buy' was also a real selling point."
Mekaniken works on some of the most high-profile programmes on Scandinavian television including Idol, Eternal Glory, Verdict Revised, Luxury Trap and Stars of the Castle and also produced music videos for Madonna, U2 and Metallica.
