Channel 5 Veterans To Step Down

Nick Wilson, Chris Shaw and Robert Charles have announced they are to leave Channel 5, following the acquisition of the broadcaster by Richard Desmond.
After spending more than 13 years at the channel, all three are accepting voluntary redundancy.
Wilson has been at Channel 5 since 1996. As Director of Children's Programming he was responsible for long-running preschool strand Milkshake!, home to Peppa Pig and Roary the Racing Car.
Shaw, Senior Programme Controller at Channel 5, and former ITN Executive and News at Ten Editor, was responsible for commissioning Alistair Campbell's chat show as well as a series in which senior politicians, including then Prime Minister Tony Blair, faced questions from the public.
Charles oversaw live football as well as Test match cricket highlights, both of which secured strong viewing figures for the broadcaster.
Channel 5's cost-cutting measure has also seen the axing of the management team which include; Managing Director Mark White, Channel Controller Richard Woolfe, Director of Corporate Affairs Sue Robertson and Director of Strategy Charles Constable.
The controversial move will claim more than a quarter of Channel 5's 300-strong staff.
Dawn Airey, Chairman and Chief Executive, is to leave at the end of the week for a new role at RTL.
