Welsh In Toronto Film Festival Line-up

Welsh filmmakers will be taking to the red carpet at the 35th Toronto International Film Festival running from 9th – 19th September.
Submarine, funded by the Film Agency for Wales, has been selected for the internationally renowned film festival. A Warp Films Production, Submarine stars Craig Roberts, Paddy Considine, Yasmin Paige, Noah Taylor and Sally Hawkins. It is based on a book by Joe Dunthorne, originally from Swansea. It is executive produced by Ben Stiller.
Written and directed by Richard Ayoade, the off-beat comedy tells the story of Oliver Tate, a young boy who must fight to save his mother from the advances of a mystic, and simultaneously lure his eczema-strafed girlfriend in to the bedroom. Mary Burke produced along with Mark Herbert and Andy Stebbing. The film is financed by Film 4, UK Film Council, Film Agency for Wales and the Wales Creative IP Fund.
Chairman of the Film Agency for Wales, Peter Edwards explained: "In the last 12 months alone we have been working on 24 development projects and some 13 productions. It is therefore particularly encouraging to see our efforts coming to fruition as many of our films involving Welsh filmmakers are now enjoying international success.
"Meanwhile, Gruff Rhys' road movie Seperado has been released and production is due to begin shortly on Hunky Dory, the latest feature film by Wales' leading director Marc Evans."
