Virgin To 'Pause And Resume'

Virgin Media are currently in talks to launch a first time triple-screen 'pause and resume' service.
The new service would allow viewers to watch a show on television before transferring to a PC or mobile picking up from where the they left off in the broadcast.
Developed by VoD provider Seachange, the service is designed to offer subscribers seamless access to on-demand content across TV, mobile and PC platforms.
Using SMS to a viewer's mobile or a log-in to their PC, the service works by allowing users to "pick up" using their Virgin set-top box. Advertising campaigns would also be managed similarly to allow consumers to be reached.
Managed by On Demand Group (ODG), Seachange's content management business, the service would form part of Virgin's on-demand offering as the company discusses its triple-play future.
Simon McGrath, Chief Marketing Officer at Seachange said Virgin Media was keen to embrace "next-generation technology"and take the next step in serving their customers.
This year, Virgin also plans to introduce its online video player, offering on-demand access to TV shows in addition to the movie service launched in April.
