Leitch's AgileVision chosen by PBS station's digital upgrade
KACV, a PBS member station in Amarillo, Texas, have selected Leitch's AgileVision system to upgrade their digital broadcast.
Don Ford, director of engineering at KACV, said: "Leitch's AgileVision was a good choice for us because the system handles EAS (Emergency Alert System) better than any other product.
"Furthermore, the AgileVision system eliminates the need to decode and then re-encode the PBS network compressed satellite signal, and all manipulation is performed in a single unit."
The AgileVision system uses an innovative, all-MPEG-2-based method for implementing EAS into a DTV broadcast. Today's EAS decoders can interface seamlessly with the AgileVision, and the EAS text and audio are overlaid on all on-air DTV channels.
