Global To Cut Heart In Half

It has been revealed that a UK based premier radio company, home of the leading commercial radio brands is to reduce the number of Heart network stations it operates by up to 50%.
Global Radio will cut it's operations by half as it invests £7m into 15 "centres of broadcasting excellence."
Many of its smaller broadcast centres will be merged together at the start of July. The move will be completed at the end of the year.
The shake up comes following Ofcom's relaxed ruling on Commercial Radio Regulation which paved the way for local stations to co-locate and share programming.
Global Radio will invest £7m in the new local facilities improving technology, programming and local news.
Chief Executive Officer of Global Group, Ashley Tabor, said the Ofcom ruling will allow commercial radio to re-organise itself more efficiently and to embrace new technology.
Tabor commented: "Although this has meant some brave decisions for our business, these changes considerably strengthen our company by providing listeners with higher quality programming and our customers with a far superior service."
