Audio Pioneer Dies Aged 98
Prof. Dr. Fritz Sennheiser, Audio Pioneer and Founder of Sennheiser Electronic GmbH & Co. K, has died age 98.
His company, Sennheiser founded in 1945, was a renowned innovator in the development of sound transmission technologies and played an instrumental role in forging ground-breaking developments in electro-acoustics and transmission technologies.
The first shotgun microphones and open headphones were created under his guidance along with developments in wireless radio and infra-red transmission.
Fritz is also noted for giving developers the 'creative and technical freedom' they required and for taking the time to teach and inspire students with an enthusiasm for audio technology.
He retired in 1982, handing over the reins to his son, Prof. Dr. sc. techn. Jrg Sennheiser.
Fritz will be remembered for his genuine love of audio technology, his creativity, hard work and generosity in the industry.
