UK Indies Pavilion Most Successful Yet

UK independent TV producers attending the recent MIPTV under the UK Indies Pavilion recorded one of their most successful markets ever, according to figures released by the trade body for independent producers.
Pact reported that more than £10m was generated by 21 independents at the market, with over 750 meetings held on the stand in the first three days – a record number since the UK Indies Pavilion began.
Over 30 companies attended the Pavilion, organised by Pact, and supported by UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), including Twofour, Calon TV, Icon Films, Studio Liddell and Visual Factory.
Situated in the Lerins Hall of the Palais des Festivals, it provides meeting facilities including a cutting-edge digital screening system that enables buyers to search and screen many hours of content at the touch of a screen, networking events, business matching breakfasts and general support by Pact.
Pact Chief Executive John McVay said: "The UK is a world leader when it comes to producing innovative content and independent producers' success at MIPTV is testamount to that.'
Lesley-Anne Morrison from Big baby Productions commented: "This was definitely a successful market for us, and as a result we are in negotiations with several overseas channels for our documentaries and a feature film. The UK Indies Pavilion was extremely helpful in giving credence and support to my own efforts and getting these negotiations underway."
The Pavilion is coordinated by Pact and supported by UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), Scottish Development International, Creative Business Wales, South West Screen and North West Vision.
