Reflecmedia and Autocue announce strategic 'virtual' partnership

Autocue, the World's leading provider of prompting devices to broadcasters, have entered into partnership with Reflecmedia to provide solutions for virtual set production.
The first product of this partnership, a prompting solution for the broadcast market, launches at IBC in Amsterdam this September. Reflecmedia's retro-reflective Chromatte fabric is revolutionising the chroma key process used in virtual set production. Until now chroma key, often referred to as blue screen, has meant large expensive studios, extensive lighting, long set up times, hot working conditions and restricted creativity. Pioneered by the BBC and developed by Reflecmedia, Chromatte is a lightweight fabric containing millions of glass beads that use scientific principles of light, surface properties and angles. The Chromatte fabric works in conjunction with colour specific LED's in a camera mounted LiteRing - the light emitted from the ring reflects back into the camera lens generating a brilliant but low level and even coloured background, needed to separate it from the foreground. The product's efficient use of light means sharp edge definition and minimal spill - generating never before seen chroma key results in low light conditions. The camera mounted LiteRing had to date presented a problem in using Autocue prompting devices that conventionally fit over the lens of the camera.
