CNBC To Be Available On Freesat

A leading pan-EMEA business and financial news channel, have announced their availability on Freesat from 23 February on channel 210.
CNBC will be available on Freesat, the subscription-free digital satellite TV service providing coverage to homes across the whole of the UK. This will increase CNBC’s distribution in the UK to 12 million households.
The announcement follows the channel’s decision at the end of January to become available ‘free-to-air’ for direct-to-home satellite users in the UK.
Mick Buckley, President and Chief Executive Officer, EMEA of CNBC, said: "Our decision to be available on Freesat, and to become a free-to-air channel in the UK, is part of our strategy to aggressively grow our distribution across EMEA in 2010.
"Business and financial news remains very pertinent in today’s economy and this change gives consumers the opportunity to watch the best analysis of what’s happening in the financial markets in the UK and across Europe.
"Last year CNBC significantly grew its upscale and affluent audience, as more viewers wanted to keep abreast of the dramatic changes in the economic environment.
"Our most recent EMS viewing figures showed that our daily audience was up 18% and our monthly audience broke seven million viewers,” said Buckley.
Across the EMEA region, the channel is available to 110 million households. "This year we will further grow our distribution across the region, making our content available to a wider audience, firmly cementing our place as the premier source of news, information and analysis for anyone interested in business and finance,” added Buckley.
CNBC broadcasts seven hours of live programming on the EMEA markets every business day from its TV studios based in the City of London, including Strictly Money, a one hour programme designed for UK retail investors, small business owners and anyone who wants to build and protect their assets and investments.
CNBC began broadcasting in the UK and Europe, Middle East and Africa in 1998. In the UK, CNBC is available on all major pay-TV platforms: Sky (channel 505), Virgin (613), TalkTalk TV (510) and Freesat (210).
