Time Delay TV Website - Expecting the Unexpected!

News Image
In recognition of supplying instant broadcast compliance to the industry for the past seven years, Time Delay TV, specialising in the supply of equipment and personnel live TV programmes and streaming, has now updated its website www.TimeDelay.tv.
Time Delay.tv provides an audio/video delay solution for HD or SD signals for the purpose of ensuring that live programming meets OFCOM regulations regarding content suppression and profanity.
SKY’s flagship tv show Soccer AM is now using the delay equipment for the odd slip up of a guest’s tongue, along with Channel 4's Surgery Live and Big Brother, ITV’s I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here, Hell’s Kitchen, and BBC’s The Mobos, as well as gaming channels.
Time Delay.tv is the UK and Europe’s only company dedicated to Broadcast Compliance of live TX shows using their new switchable HD/SD Pipeline machine, which can instantly cut out profanity words and/or pictures.
The company has worked on many other live, reality and entertainment shows over the years including Celebrity Love Island, Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Take Away’, Time Team and ‘Hells Kitchen’. In the USA the system is also used on The Oscars, The Emmys and The Super bowl XLII.
As soon as the offending word or sentence is heard, a button is pressed for as long as the offence occurs. A built in reaction time is triggered, and 5 or 10 seconds later the word comes out clean by inserting an auxiliary video/audio source.

It is so straightforward to operate that the compliance producers use them themselves with a simple button trigger.

Darryl Rose, Director of Time Delay.tv said: "Our system is so easy to set up and use, and we are grateful to the BBC, ITV, SKY and Channel 4 for using the UK’s premier source for instant compliance.
"In a live situation, there is no second chance so decision making has to be spontaneous, and accurate. Time Delay.tv gives the broadcasters this cushion.
It helps eliminate the network’s fears, while the viewers at home will still watch enjoyable entertainment."
The system has also been used by ITV Sport on The World Cup, and Euros to delay their main feed by a few frames, to enable it to match the backup feed, which was not in sync, due to extra hops from satellites. It can also be used to correct lip sync issues as the audio can be independently delayed/advanced in relation to the video.
The new system has 20 channels of audio delay (4 AES + 16 EMB) with independent audio delay of +/- 500mS for lip synchronisation. Both embedded and de-embedded audio with full channel mapping, individual audio level and phase adjustment as well as test tone generators.
GPI inputs may be configured for video and/or audio switching. Video may be switched to aux input, stored images, freeze frame, test signal or black. Each audio channel is switchable to another delayed channel, aux inputs, tone or silence.
