Dustbin Baby Nominated For Emmys

Kindle Entertainment, the BAFTA-award-winning independent production company, has announced that family drama Dustbin Baby, based on the novel by best-selling author Jacqueline Wilson, has been nominated in the Children & Young People category for the 37th International Emmy Awards.
The winner of this prestigious award will be announced on November 23 2009 at a ceremony hosted by British television star Graham Norton at The Hilton Hotel, New York.
The ninety-minute film for BBC One premiered in the UK for Christmas 2008 and features a stellar cast including Juliet Stevenson, Dakota Blue Richards and David Haig.
The story follows young teenager April (Richards) whose troubled life began in a dustbin - a new-born baby, abandoned and alone, not celebrated, not wanted, but discarded and left like so much rubbish in an industrial bin behind a pizza parlour.
On the morning of her fourteenth birthday, April has a devastating row with her foster mother Marion and leaves the house, determined to find out where she really comes from, who she really is, and maybe, just maybe, find her real mother.
As Marion searches frantically for her, their journeys take them on a course that will change their lives forever.
With a screenplay by BAFTA-nominated Helen Blakeman, the producers behind Dustbin Baby are the BAFTA and International Emmy award-winning team at Kindle Entertainment, Executive Producers Anne Brogan and Melanie Stokes and Producer Julia Ouston, along with BAFTA-winning Director Juliet May.
Dustbin Baby has recently been nominated for Best Drama and Best Writer for Helen Blakeman at the Electronic Arts British Academy Children's Awards 2009 whilst Kindle Entertainment has been nominated for Best Independent Production Company. The film for BBC One has also been shortlisted for the BAFTA Kids' Vote, as voted by children aged 7 - 14. ITV Global Entertainment handled DVD distribution and international TV sales for Dustbin Baby.
Anne Brogan, Co-Founder of Kindle Entertainment and Executive Producer, commented: "Receiving an International Emmy Award nomination is a fabulous tribute to the outstanding cast and production team who worked on bringing Jacqueline Wilson's heartbreaking but ultimately uplifting story to life.
"We are committed to delivering high quality productions, such as Dustbin Baby, which parents and children can enjoy watching together whilst also considering the challenging issues of identity and parenthood which affect many modern families."
