UNIT Opens New Grading Suite

A leading UK post-production and creative service company UNIT has announced the opening of a new Apple Colour grading suite and the appointment of colourist Simon Astbury.
Following the continued growth of UNIT's portfolio, spanning commercials, promos, feature-length programming and music videos, UNIT has opened this second suite alongside present Colourist James Willett to help cope with the demand from its growing list of high profile clients.
Colourist Simon Astbury has been brought in to spearhead the new projects and state-of-the-art grading facilities. The suite will offer the full range of Apple Colour which is part of the Final Cut Pro studio, using Tangent Devices CP-200 modular panels and a Cinetal 'Cinemage' 10bit monitor at the heart of the suite.
One of the most experienced colourists in the business, Simon has worked with a number of production companies and international broadcasters including the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Nat Geo and Discovery.
Simon's credits include some of the UK's best known terrestrial programming, including; Gok's Fashion Fix, 3 Men In Another Boat, Francesco's Mediterranean, Last Man Standing and Richard Hammond's Engineering Connections to name a few.
Adam Luckwell, CEO of UNIT, said: "UNIT remains committed to pushing the boundaries of post production. Our continued expansion with the new suite and the appointment of Simon Astbury helps to maintain our position as a leading post production house. With someone like Simon in the driving seat, the new grading suite is in good hands."
Simon Astbury, UNIT Colourist, commented: "I have huge respect for UNIT's calibre of creative talent and high quality production values, and with a number of new projects just starting, including the news series of Watchdog and The Culture Show; it's a great time to be a part of the team."
As well as projects like Watchdog and The Culture Show, recent additions to UNIT's portfolio also include visual effects for a number of commercials such as Nissan, Sky and Toyota and Sega. They have also just completed a fashion film for couture label, Boudicca.
