Argosy Adds Winchester Electronics Products

A leading UK-based international supplier of HD broadcast cables and studio infrastructure products, Argosy, has announced that it has added the award-winning Winchester Electronics EL Series Fibre Optic Video Jack and Fibre Patch Cords to its ever expanding state-of-the-art range of high-definition and fibre optic infrastructure products.
Winchester Electronics' EL Series Fibre Optic Video Jack - which had its European debut at IBC 2009 - provides a means to achieve an all-fibre broadcast facility. This breakthrough product enables broadcasters to replace existing coaxial copper components or traditional ferrule-based fibre connectors with an expanded light beam connection technology and manually actuated fibre switch.
The new EL Series connector components offers expanded bandwidth capacity through small diameter fibres, lowers degradation and power requirements while at the same time lowering the overall cost. Furthermore it eliminates reliability issues associated with dirt and scratches that are common with traditional fibre connectors. The optimal jack field provides the same functionality and look and feel as a full standard copper jack field.
Jerome Farnan, Director of Fibre Optic Technology at Winchester Electronics, said: "Our new award-winning EL Series Fibre Optic Video Jack allows broadcasters to switch signals as easily fibre technology as they were able to do in the past with copper. Essentially, this product enables broadcasters to implement an all fibre infrastructure without the need to convert back to copper - allowing for real workflow and cost-efficiencies."
Mike Purnell, Director, Argosy, said: "We are very excited to be working with Winchester Electronics and to make their new award-winning fibre optic jacks and patch cords available to our international customers. Switching with the EL Series fibre optic jack has become as easy as 'plug and play' without the need for additional conversion equipment nor the associated power requirements - saving valuable space and reducing heat inside the rack."
Winchester Electronics was awarded the prestigious IABM's Peter Wayne Award at IBC 2009 and the TV Technology Star Award at IBC 2009 in Amsterdam.
