ITV Acquires Canadian Drama

ITV Studios, Global Entertainment has announced that it has acquired the highly anticipated contemporary drama adaptation Bloodletting & Miraculous Cures, produced by Canada's Shaftesbury Films.
The new drama will be launched by ITV Studios, Global Entertainment at MIPCOM 2009.
The series is based on the best-selling award-winning book by Dr Vincent Lam, an emergency room doctor from Toronto.
This new drama takes an honest look at life and love today through the lens of modern-day medicine. The eight-hour drama series is written by Governor General Award-winning playwright Jason Sherman (Murdoch Mysteries, ReGenesis).
Set in a busy Toronto hospital Bloodletting & Miraculous Cures puts the relationships between three young doctors under the microscope, following their lives, loves, misfortunes, triumphs, hopes and challenges over a period of nine years as they simultaneously learn to be good doctors while becoming good people in the process. The case includes Byron Mann (Dark Angel), Mayko Nguyen (ReGenesis) and Shawn Ashmore (X-Men).
