Link Research is expanding in the Asia Pacific region and will provide sales and customer support from Singapore from May 2005.
The company is appointing Sue Gilks as General Manager- Asia to head its operation in the region. Gilks has been in Singapore for the last eight years and has extensive experience of the digital broadcast industry gained from business partner development roles with Tandberg Television, Sony Broadcast, DST Innovis and Motorola. In her new role with Link, Sue will focus on building relationships with distributors and resellers that supply equipment for TV news, entertainment and sports. A key objective will be to ensure a high level of support and training to new distributors for the LinkXP wireless camera systems. Her territory will cover Korea, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan and India. In China, Link's products are already supplied by MRC Ltd, another company in the Vislink Group. Link Research is seen as a market leader for digital wireless camera systems and its key product, the LinkXP system, has won several prestigious awards including the IABM's Peter Wayne Award in 2002. Major world broadcasters such as the BBC, Sky News, ABC, ESPN and NBC already use Link's products and in Australia, Channel 9 recently placed a large order for Link XP wireless camera systems. The LinkXP's success is attributed to its superb performance in live broadcast situations, where its diversity reception and Link's MPEG encoding give a robust signal that transmits clear, digital pictures without any perceptible signal delay. Link Research will be exhibiting its wireless camera systems and accessories at the Broadcast Asia show in June 2005 at booth number 2J3-07. Sue Gilks commented: "Link Research is entering Asia at an exciting time. The big opportunities will be to replace older analogue equipment with the latest digital systems and to supply wireless camera systems for major events in the Asia region including the South Eastern Asian Games." The Managing Director of Link Research in the UK, Len Mann, said: "We are setting up our own base in Asia so that we can provide a high level of support and service to distributors and customers in the Region and the growing number of global customers. We are delighted that Sue is joining Link, because she has worked very successfully with local distributors in her previous roles." (GB)
