M-Net selects Pinnacle for complete integrated sports production workflow
As it targets advanced streamlined workflows for its world-leading sports production, M-Net is to use Pinnacle Systems' flagship integrated system, Vortex.
The leading South African commercial broadcaster is the region's first to use the comprehensive system for end-to-end sports production. Pinnacle Systems' Vortex is to deliver ingest, editing and playout tools in a single package for M-Net's five sports channels. The deal, valued at around US$1.5 million, has been conducted through Pinnacle partner Concilium Technologies. The solution will be integrated with a Convera sports package to make creating promotions and highlights more efficient with detailed logging of all events in custom layouts for a variety of sporting events. Also designed for use as a networked news production solution, Vortex provides a central shared server wherein all operators are able to search from any editing or browsing system on the network. In addition, Vortex plays out the raw material at air time rather than copying files to ensure complete compliance with edit instructions. (GB)
