Outpost Digital gives 'The Streets' video the flame treatment
State-of-the-art HD post-production facility Outpost Digital UK has completed visual effects work on the music promo for The Streets’ latest single, 'Could Well Be In'.
Directed by Andy Soup and produced by Richard Weager at Independent, the video depicts lead vocalist Mike Skinner wandering around a hotel seeing himself on a night out with his girlfriend. At certain points of the video there two Mike Skinners in shot. “The postproduction was quite complicated as there are a lot shots that feature two Mike Skinners,” said Weager. “We wanted a slick, seamless look that would convince people that there are really two people there.” Outpost’s flame operator, Diego Vazquez-Lozano composited two different motion control plates together and combined split screens to achieve the desired effect. He also had to create mattes for instances where one Mike Skinner crosses over the other. “The toilet scene was the biggest challenge as the focus shifted mid shot on the two plates, making the composite more difficult,” said Vazquez-Lozano. “We were very pleased with the results. Diego did a fantastic job!” said Weager. (GB)
