Hebden Sound announce first sale of HS3000 series mic

Hebden Sound has announced the sale of six of its new HS3000 series microphones to Stage Electrics, one of Europe's leading suppliers of technical equipment to the entertainment, leisure and presentation industries.
Four of the microphones were specified by Sound Consultant Glen Beckley and have been installed at the Elim @ Bristol City Church for use by the choir and various wind instruments, while the other two have joined a tour of the musical ‘Kiss Me Kate’, where they are being used on the flutes.
Stage Electrics’ Sound Consultant Jem Kitchen specified the microphones for the show. He explained: “The name of Hebden was introduced to me by a close colleague of mine and, although we had not heard the mics at that point, he waxed lyrical about their pedigree. I was putting together a sound design for a 52 week UK tour of 'Kiss Me Kate'. My first priority was to specify gear that would give me the highest possible accuracy, transparency and naturalness. In my search, I had already decided on an Audient Aztec console, XTA processors, MC2 amps and Funktion-One speakers. I knew that this combination of gear would make huge demands on mic performance, so I had already considered some exotic European mics. However I contacted Hebden Sound and David Anderson could not have been more helpful; he dispatched twoHS3020s to me during the production week, on a sale or return basis.
“We removed them from the sumptuous packaging, plugged one straight into the desk, for an A. B. test against an industry standard, very highly regarded, mic of similar dimensions. A colleague, whose voice I am very familiar with, held them at chest height and talked while I listened on a good set of headphones. We reversed roles and decided to NOT return the Hebdens!
“The whole process took about eight seconds. Like buying a house; when it's right; you just know! So we now have two HS3020 mics on our flutes and are delighted with them.”
