Film and television music composer Phil Lawrence has been nominated for one of the most prestigious classical music prizes in the country.
The British Academy of Composers, in conjunction with BBC Radio 3, has nominated Lawrence along with luminaries such as Sir Peter Maxwell-Davis, Master of The Queens Music, Sir Harrison Birtwistle, Marc Anthony Turnage, Judith Weir and Judith Bingham. Lawrence said: “I started in classical music as a child, composing and playing, but went straight into media composition; I keep my concert hall work up along side. I’m very lucky to be in such company, and I know how film composers out there would also like to be in my shoes for this kind of accolade” The awards take place at the Barbican on December 17. (GB)
