Tern Television has been commissioned by BBC Two to make a second series of the successful series 'Map Man'.
The recommission follows Tern Television’s double success at the Scottish BAFTAs, where they won the Documentary award for 'Gutted' and the Factual award for 'Chancers'. Presented by Britain’s own map guru Nicolas Crane, the new second series of Map Man will take the same 8 x 30mins format as the first eight part series, which attracted audiences of over two million and was a key part of BBC Two's 2004 autumn launch. Harry Bell, Creative Director and Executive Producer at Tern Television, said: “This is a great opportunity for Tern to extend the definitive cartographic series and for us to delve further into British map history. It’s also the ideal launch pad for a landmark world maps series. Geography is the new history and we’re looking forward to a similarly enthusiastic response to our upcoming 'Storms of War' series for Discovery. The BAFTAs have been a real motivation for us to continue doing what we do best - bringing contemporary issues alive on screen through the people that live and breathe them.” Expected delivery date for the new series will be September 2005 with a possible transmission in the 2005 BBC Two Autumn Schedule.
