PINNACLE SYSTEMS ANNOUNCE ARRIVAL OF PDS 6000

PINNACLE Systems have announced the arrival of their new, entry-level, digital production switcher, the PDS 6000.
The PDS 6000 delivers a suite of real-time processing capabilities with a powerful Mix/Effects (M/E) system and a full-function programme/preset (PGM/PST/DSK) bank each with dual keyers.
Both the M/E and the PGM/PST/DSK have three 10-bit 3D DVEs each - one per keyer plus one for transitions - for a total of six internal DVEs. The base system also includes 15 inputs expandable to 36, 14 built-in framestores delivering 56 online frames of storage, YUV colour correction, independent proc amp controls for each input, clean feed, redundant power supplies, and more in a compact six rack unit chassis.
Built-in YUV colour correction on all four keyer busses enables users to independently correct both luminance and chrominance at the system's inputs. Available RGB colour correction delivers independent gain, pedestal, and gamma adjustment on each component. All these features are standard.
But, in spite of all these features, the PDS 6000 is very easy to use. Its familiar, intuitive interface emulates a conventional M/E system so users can feel comfortable on-air in the shortest possible time.
The PDS 6000 is designed to seamlessly integrate into the production environment using built-in communication ports, allowing the switcher to control and be controlled by other equipment using industry-standard protocols via GPI or RS 422. Additional DVEs can be integrated and controlled by the system. The PDS 6000 can also control a wide variety of servers and other devices using the BVW-75 protocol. The frame stores can be loaded directly with images generated by Pinnacle’s Lightning, Deko, Thunder and DVEXtreme products. (CD)
