SCOTTISH SCREEN LAUNCH INTRODUCTION TO RESEARCH

SCOTTISH Screen have announced the launch of ‘Introduction to Research’, a three-day course aiming to equip participants with the tools of the research trade, running November 7-9 2001.
These include finding sources and accessing information for a variety of programme genres; developing and maintaining contacts; interviewing techniques; writing briefs; liaising with agents and public bodies; copyright issues; archive research; working with contributors and presenters; and awareness of legal and ethical issues related to production and an overview of technology.
The second part of the course will look at: the development of ideas for various genres; practical exercises in story and ideas development; attracting talent; an overview of the commissioning process and an introduction to pitching and selling the idea.
The course has been mapped against SVQs for Research and Production Levels 2 & 3.
Delegates will be able to generate evidence towards their SVQ portfolio.
