ATG EXPAND BBC EDITING FACILITIES

ATG Broadcast have installed an additional four disk-based video edit suites at the BBC's Stage V post-production facility in London's Television Centre.
The four suites (one online, three offline) increase to 12 the total number of edit suites in Stage V's 'nonlinear village'. A fibre-channel networked Avid Media Composer audio/video workstation forms the basis of each suite.
Additional equipment in each suite includes a Sony Betacam DVTR on an ATG Broadcast sliding tray, Videotek waveform monitor/vectorscope, Miranda interfaces and Pro-Bel DAs. Audio is handled via a Yamaha 03D digital audio mixer, an ATG SAM-D PPM signal level display unit with 8 inputs (analogue and AES digital audio), and KRK V8 loudspeakers on ATG Broadcast stands. Picture display is via JVC Grade 2 and Ikegami TM2020 Grade 1 colour monitors.
A Quartz Q3200 32 x 32 SDI routing matrix, Q1600 32 x 32 AES audio matrix, and Q6400-PR-32-4 32-port RS-422 matrix have been installed in the Stage V central apparatus room under the overall supervision of the BBC touchscreen-based Broadcast Network Control System (BNCS).
ATG Broadcast Managing Director Graham Buchanan said: "Having supplied and installed the existing eight nonlinear video edit suites at Stage V, we were naturally pleased that ATG Broadcast were chosen to extend the system.
The result is a highly reliable, versatile and cost-efficient installation with a long working life."
