TWO APPOINTMENTS TO ITC'S ADVERTISING AND PROGRAMMES

STEVE Perkins and Martin Hart have been appointed to lead the two key functions of the ITC's newly merged Advertising and Programmes Group.
The appointments will commence with immediate effect.
Perkins will become Controller of Advertising and Programme Standards leading a team of staff with responsibility for programmes and advertising code enforcement, complaints and the assessment of public service broadcasting requirements.
Previously, Perkins was responsible for the ITC's factual programme department, covering news and the range of other factual output, and questions of impartiality, fairness and privacy. Prior to this he was a Senior Programme Officer and Regional Officer for the East of England, firstly for the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) and subsequently the ITC. He started his career as a media planner/buyer for Saatchi and Saatchi.
Hart will become Controller of Advertising and Programmes Policy with responsibility for advertising policy, licensee statements and licence requirements, advertising scheduling, programme statistics, as well as European and Government relations, alongside the ITC's Policy Group.
Since 1996, Hart has been Head of Sponsorship for the ITC with responsibility for sponsorship, new media and some advertising regulation. Previously, he was Head of Membership Services for PACT and a member of the BBC's Policy and Planning Unit, dealing with editorial policy issues and undertaking work on behalf of the Chairman and Board of Management.
Both posts are responsible to Sarah Thane, Director of Advertising and Programmes and Ian Blair, Deputy Director of Advertising and Programmes. (CD)
