PICARDY LAUNCH DTTV

PICARDY Media Group have launched a new concept which will revolutionise the way organisations communicate with their staff and customers.
Desk Top Television (DTTV), developed in partnership with global technology firm Cisco Systems, will enable organisations to deliver television quality content via their existing IT systems.
The key feature of DTTV is its ability to deliver TV quality content to a standard laptop, notebook or desktop PC without requiring any additional software bandwidth.
DTTV works by distributing content to the edge of an organisation’s network through a separate server known as a content engine which has been developed and supplied by Cisco Systems.
The hardware device is crucial in that it enables the distribution of content to up to 100 people at one site within an organisation without interfering with the flow of normal business traffic on its main server. Cisco has also developed a bespoke solution to automatically route user requests for content to the best, usually nearest, source of content. Picardy has designed a user-friendly interface for the system that allows easy access through a standard PC or onto another output device such as plasma screen.
When a client commissions the service Picardy will then set up a bespoke TV station where they manage and, if required, produce content for broadcast to staff and other stakeholders to distribute to their clients networks. Potential content could range from health and safety training, new product information, in-store promotions, updates on financial compliance-realted issues, staff and investor relations and all other forms of company communications.
Picardy Media Group’s Managing Director, Iain Hogg claims DTTV will change the way larger companies and public bodies communicate with a new emphasis on broadcast material rather than standard text based content. He said: DTTV does what it says on the tin, and more. As well as delivering TV quality messages to staff and other stake-holders via their PC’s, an organisation will also be able to broadcast to its customers. I believe it will revolutionise the way that larger organisations communicate internally. It marks the first step away from text content towards TV-quality broadcasts which can be far more powerful, innovative and user friendly.” (CD)
