Rod Hastie, recently retired Chief Executive of the Producers Industrial Relations Service and Roger Laughton, Chair of the Audio Visual Industries Training Group and Head of Bournemouth Media School received the awards from Baroness Blackstone, Minister of State for the Arts. Skillset`s Lifetime Achievement Award has only been given to one other person prior to this, Frank McGettigan, a founder of Skillset and now retired Head of Business and Finance at Channel 4. The award is given to those who have made an outstanding contribution to training and education in the sector. Hastie was a founder member of Skillset and has sat on its board since it was founded in 1993 including a stint as Chair. Laughton has worked tirelessly with Skillset over the last two years to produce the AVITG report and ensure its recommendations are taken seriously and delivered by the industry. (CD)
