Atomos IBC Preview

Atomos are set to shows their smart production tools working with leading DSLRs, camcorders and cinematic cameras at IBC, in Hall 9, stand number D25.
The firm has been working closely with camera manufacturers to implement features that will be welcomed by production professionals working to a tight budget.
"Camera manufacturers have been very receptive to our suggestions and extremely co-operative", said Jeromy Young, CEO and Founder of Atomos."For example, we have been working with Canon to implement HDMI-based timecode and start/stop triggering, and Nikon's clean output via HDMI makes the Ninja-2 by the far the most productive and affordable sensor-to-timeline recording and monitoring solution available. We're very proud to be able to showcase these solutions at IBC".
Visitors to the annual convention in Amsterdam will be able to get hands-on with Ninja-2s and Samurais working with the latest D800 and D4 DSLRs from Nikon, Sony FS100, FS700 and F3 camcorders, Canon C300 and XF305, JVC 750 and the RED Epic.
Both Ninja-2 and Samurai ship with the latest AtomOS 3 operating system. This includes features such as SmartMonitor, which turns the field recorder into a professional monitoring solution with Tri-Level Focus Peaking, Zebra, False Color and Blue Only functionality – features normally associated with expensive monitoring products, but provided free of charge with AtomOS.
AtomOS also includes SmartLog, a revolutionary feature that allows you to edit using keyword tagging - on the set, on location or on the move, when working with Apple Final Cut X.
Installed throughout the booth will be Atomos' pocket-sized Connect converters - H2S (HDMI to HD-SDI) and S2H (HD-SDi to HDMI). They can be conveniently attached to the battery plate of the original Ninja, the Ninja-2 and Samurai, or even lighting and monitoring devices, to provide continuous conversion thanks to Atomos' unique battery hot-swapping technology, Continuous Power. Other features include internal and external battery options as well as AC connectivity, test pattern generator and pull-down removal, all included as standard for just $349.
The Atomos Ninja-2 and Samurai field recorders allow the recording, monitoring and playback of pristine, 10-bit uncompressed images straight from the sensor of your HDMI-equipped DSLR or camcorder, directly to inexpensive HDD or SSD drives, recorded using the high quality Apple ProRes codec. Atomos will also be showing a beta version of their Avid DNxHD implementation for Ninja-2 and Samurai.
Atomos is based in Australia, with offices in the UK, USA, Japan and China, partnering with a worldwide distribution network. Further product information can be found at www.atomos.com
