ITV1 Commissions Cheryl Cole's Night in

ITV1 has just confirmed that Cheryl Cole will star in a one-off special to be broadcast later this year.

Produced by ITV studios, Cheryl (pictured here) will perform songs from her new album and welcome some of the artists who have been her musical heroes including friends and influences including Rihanna, Will Young and Alexandra Burke. Cheryl is also set to perform with Will.i.am.

Since bursting on to the small screen in 2002 on Popstars The Rivals, Cheryl has fast become one of the UK's best loved stars as one fifth of Girls Aloud, noted as one of the most successful girl groups in the UK.



As an X Factor judge she won the 2008 contest with her protégée Alexandra Burke and has now released the fastest selling single of 2009 making her a number one artist.

Cheryl commented: "2009 has been an incredible year for me with a number 1 single and a number 1 album and being part of the X Factor. I couldn't be happier that ITV have asked me to round off the year with my own show and work with some of my favourite artists."

ITV's Controller of Entertainment John Kaye Cooper added: "Cheryl started her journey on ITV1 on Popstars The Rivals and we’re delighted that she now has her own special on the same channel.

"It's just testament to her very special talent."

Claire Horton, Controller of Entertainment at ITV studios continued: "Cheryl is a national treasure and an artist which the entire family loves to watch, listen and see perform. We're delighted to be producing this incredibly unique and exciting television special."

London based ITV studios entertainment department is producer of music television specials including; Divas (ITV1), An Audience with… (ITV1) which has starred critically acclaimed artists including Kylie Minogue, Celine Dion and Take That, the prestigious Royal Variety Performance (ITV1), Countdown (Channel 4) and the all new hit format Four Weddings (Living).
